Hello.

New to SoftPlan v2018.  We are using a HP T120 printer and struggle with printing in all areas.  Sometimes print cuts half of it off, scaling issues, orientation needs changed, ect... you name it we have encountered it.  We have yet to hit print and not encounter a issue.  My question is has anyone else experienced these frustrations with this printer or SoftPlan?  If anyone is using this printer what is the best way too go about printing plan sets? Export to PDF? Is anything else needed?  Was hoping printing would be much easier than this.

Thanks!

I have a T520 which is a very similar plotter to yours.  SoftPlan creates .pdfs perfectly and the T520 prints them perfectly.  Few things to review:

1.  T120 Printer driver updated and current

2.  Not sure of your .pdf reader for printing but Adobe reader is preferred.  I use Nitro.  Others may have unexplained plotting quarks

3.  Softplan side of things:  you're fairly new to Softplan Matt so make sure your creating your sheets correctly, the title block file you use in your planset should match the page size for accurate scale during .pdf creation. (image below)

4.  PDF software:  make sure NOT to scale for printing, you've already set things up for scale during .pdf creation. (image below)

5.  Try using Adobe Reader.....its free and seems to work the best.

Matt, I have the same printer and never run into problems. I always print from PDF as well.

I have the same plotter/printer and it works great.  I have had it since they first offered them and it works great with Softplan.  I use Cute PDF and Foxit PDF and have never had trouble.

Thanks everyone. Is there a common pdf reader everyone is using?  Hear any good or bad with Adobe Acrobat?

Acrobat Reader to view and Print from.  For editing we use PDF Architect by PDF Forge.  It was as one time purchase ($80 i think) and it will do just about all the features of Acrobat pro when it comes to PDF editing, page inserts, rotate, export to image, etc.  https://www.pdfforge.org/pdfarchitect

Typically try to generate all PDF's direct from SP's export to PDF feature in plans sets.  FWIW, I've tried several external PDF printers but have never found one I like that matches SP's PDF quality direct from the export.  Not sure what SP is using internally to generate PDF's though, but the lines and shading has always looked better to me.

I use PDF X-Change Editor ... Freeware by Tracker Software (unfortunate company name, I know!). The print dialog is wonderful, and shows exactly what it intends to print.
