I’m curious to how everyone approaches a project from a drawing standpoint. Do you finalize main floor drawing first > next use that for overlay for 2nd floor ( if applicable) finalizing that > then to foundation using overlay and changing main floor walls to desired foundation> then to roof > then to detailing? Trying to improve efficiency with each project.

It depends on the project/customer for me. Some customers have an idea of what they want the exterior to look like and will make main floor plan changes to get that look. Others are set on having the main floor layout how they want it, and the exterior just goes along with it. Then there's the ones that are set on their exterior look AND their layout...and those are the ones that make the job interesting. :)

That's exactly my approach.

I focus on the structural and outside walls on my first floor (doors and window).  No need to worry about finishes cabinets and all that extra now.  There are too many times I finalized a drawing to go up to the second floor and make a bunch of changes.  Second-floor structurally and exterior (windows).  Do my foundation last.  After all works together then I will finish up all the interior items and then generate elevations.
