I've looked and can't find a setting to make my drawings default to 1/4" when adding it to the

plan set sheet. Typically all our drawings are 1/4" = 1'. Would be nice to set that as the default

when adding a drawing to a sheet.

Well that would only be correct %99.99 of the time.  Do we really "need" a default?

I agree- coming in at 3/8" is really dumb and annoying.

But give us the option to set the default we want-

A suggestion has been made to allow a default scale to be used when adding drawings to a plan set.

If a suggestion is made, it would be best to allow us to set what that default is at the project level, and in addition, if we like drawing level (for detail templates). Thanks.

If you use PlanSet Templates, you can create a template sheet for your elevations and prepopulate it with your 4 elevations set to your preferred scale. Now when you create your PlanSet from that template  for your specific project the scale is set and the elevations are already on the sheet. At most you need to rearrange the elevations on the sheet.

I have templates set up, but they still jump to whatever scale they want when adding drawings to sheets.

What Phil was describing about the template, means that you don't add a drawing ... the drawing is already added to the template.

Softplan tries to fill whatever space it has on the sheet with the biggest scale available.

Yeah, but that doesn't really work for me either since I don't always have the same-named drawings to put on sheets in every new file. It only works

if you have drawings that are named exactly the same in each file.

NO ... When setting up the planset, you can make substitutions into the planset with the Drawing mapping, and you can switch the drawing called "FLOOR PLAN" for one called "FIRST FLOOR" in the drawing mapping in the template when you open the new template.

Keith, I just want to push "one" button. Any more than that and its too much work and really needs to be fixed.  :D

Exactly... lol.. gotta streamline the process. We're building over a 100 houses a year, and we have only 1 draftsman. Me.

For those saying to use Templates, that doesn't work either, at least not for me...

I created this plan set template, the elevations were set to 1/4" = 1' when I created the template from the original plan set.

When I pulled the plan set template into this drawing, it put my elevations on the sheet, but at 3/16" = 1'......

So, just edit your elevation to 1/4" scale and re-position if needed? You can always use "paint break" or "shade break" lines as guides to snap to if needed. Or, place lines that you have on a layer you turn off before printing or set not to print. Lots of options depending on how you are doing your plan sets. I think templates are still faster than starting from scratch if you do a lot of the same drawings.
