sorry to be a pain on here but is there any way to brighten up the 3d rendering on the program??

You have lots of lighting options with both symbols and ambient lighting, etc. Sun options also with geo location, time of day & year, etc.

As Gary states, you have to play with the mode options to suit your requirements. You can SETUP any mode to your needs independently of others.
