When I have edited the size of the door or window I find that I can not just change the style of the door with out having to re-edit the size.

Then I have to line it back up or whatever.  Is there a way to just change styles without having to go back thru the editing process again?

I don't believe that is possible but I have found that the center of the window or door stays in the same location. So when you change the style and go to re-edit the size it should stay in the same place as long as it is going back to the same size. I try to stick to the default sizes or make my own custom sizes if necessary.
