I'm thinking that you can probably only do that when you initially create your speed note. This is a classic example of where it would be very nice to be able to change something on a symbol and then 'overwrite' the symbol name to reflect the change. Would be so much better than going through all of the hoopla we have to now.

In Softplan i can have the detail note be any color....but when i turn it into a speednote it turns to a dark purple color.

A speed note is a symbol so it is going to be the whatever color is picked in the "Assign Color" dialog for symbols.  I have all my detail notes set on their own layer and I have that layers' color set to blue.  When you create the speed not you can specify the default layer for that symbol.

As Dennis said, Speed Notes are controlled by the 'Symbol' color option in the Assign Color options.

If you right click on a speed note and do a Group Selection, right click and set the layer to another layer, you can change the layer color, turn on the layer visibility and uncheck the 'Use Item Color' option to show them all the same color.
