I just finished up two sets for a builder and sent them to the printer.  Picked them up and unrolled them on his desk.  Nice full first sheet.  It's funny how a small house can fill up a sheet.  But something's wrong here, the lettering seems a little large and a 1500 sq. ft. house should not be filling the sheet like that.  OH CRAP.  The floor plans inserted at 3/8 scale not 1/4 and I didn't notice.  My fault for not checking but,

COME ON SP CAN WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO SET THE DEFAULT THAT DRAWINGS COME INTO PLAN SETS?  99% of the time I want them at 1/4 but they just come in to fit the page.  That's not the best way.

many default options need added to SP.

Like the option to FOREVER turn OFF "attach".   I cant stand that.

I would like it to be a sticky.  I use it a lot and would not like it to stay off all the time but it would be nice if it and others didn't turn back on by themselves.

I don't think I've ever had "Attach" turn itself back on.

No, I've never had it turn on itself that I've noticed, but then I use it ON most of the time, I suspect that If you want it OFF always you'd notice that.

If you don't use attach how do you deal with moving exterior walls - with attach off, you have to snap everything back into place. That would drive me mad ...

I edit dimensions to move walls on interior....then for exterior do the same thing and then use the option "link floors".

I do a lot of "final" cabinet layouts.   So i am always moving appliances in kitchens and swapping out cabinets and so on.  With attach on it moves stuff i dont want to move!!!

When 'Move' is selected, Attach is always on by default.

When 'Block Move' is selected, Attach is always off by default.

When Attach is turned on/off by the user, it is always session dependant. This also applies to other commands that use Attach, being session dependant.

I may have been wrong when I said it came on by itself.   I'm actually getting comfortable with parts of SP so that I don't have to think about every move I make.

The only issue that I have noticed with attached is if I am working on the flooring mode ( I create my dimensioned slab plans there) and I move a dimension it will move items on the drawing mode which really makes a mess.

If you have a programmable mouse, set on of the buttons on it to turn attach on or off.  I use it constantly to change the setting.  On a mouse button, it convenient and easy to use.  I hardly notice when I turn it on or off, it just becomes a natural instinctive action.

How do you set 'attach' to a shortcut? I don't think it's available as a shortcut. I've wanted to do this since I started using Softplan.

Well, this is not correct on my system.

Pick move and attach remains in the state that it was in the last time move was picked.
pick move block, modify, copy etc. and attach remains as last set.

EXCEPT if you pick "align to edge".  Align to edge has an odd quirk to it such that it may alter your next command or not.

Try this, turn all in the move menu such that attach is off.  Then set "align to edge" to on the go back and check the others.  Did any of them turn back on?  Sometime, not all of the time though, mine do.

Attach seems to be a sub-command of somethings and I can't figure out a way to get to it on it's own.

Dennis, The move and block move as described by Don, are ON/OFF as a default ONLY at the start of a Softplan session. Once you've started drawing they are under your control until you exit Softplan, and then they revert to their default state next time you open Softplan. They will stay as LAST SET within a session as you describe.

I'm not too concerned about the on/off state when I first start SP.  I am more interested in how it works during a drawing session.  And  I've found out that "align to an edge" a command that I use a lot is responsible for changing whether attach is on or off.  I assumed that just picking move or block move was randomly changing whether or not attach is on.
