I have read here that using the ceiling mode to display a first floor framing plan on the crawl space drawing is a good way to show the walls solid.  I can set up a custom mode to display all the items the way I want, but I do NOT want the ceiling system to render in the model.  I can uncheck "Extract in model" for the ceiling, but on the joists "Extract in model" is checked and greyed out so I cannot uncheck it.  Is there a way to edit the joist system to uncheck the box?

Thanks,

Dave

And related to that question, if I want to show my second floor framing on my main floor plan, do I need to fudge in a ceiling system on my main floor plan to display second floor framing?

I set up a drawing to be an overlay for such purposes. That way I can show my framing and add the overlay drawing with only the things I want showing in that drawing. While it is a copy of the actual floor plan, it is set so only those things I want to show will automatically show when I copy and paste to that drawing.
