I am trying to do more generating of interior elevations that will be used in construction drawings, especially kitchen and bath cabinets, etc. Is anyone willing to share examples of how you get from the model view to annotated interior elevations?

Much appreciated!

Color or just B&W?  Color might look good but will take a toll when printing (on ink).  The biggest problem that I have is that the switches that I use for plan are not the same that look good in 3D so there is a balancing act to play.

It all depends on how much information you want to convey.

The generated interior elevations are images, not line drawings, so they are good for blocking in basic cabinet dimensions.  To annotate you have to convert to an SP line drawing.

For my purposes this line drawing isn’t good enough to convey all the info I want, so I wind up exploding the symbols, deleting a lot of lines, changing line weights and then adding additional info for the final construction drawings.

My goal is to provide drawings that can be sent to cabinet and countertop providers to do direct take-offs.  This helps the owner get true comparative bids from builders.

This means I’m specifying cabinet and countertop details, appliances, cab door swings, etc. – and sometimes cabinet product codes if I have a specific manufacturer in mind.  Knowing the appliances often helps with cabinet dimensions.  It’s a lot of work, but you’re cranking through all the design issues to come up with a really good and workable plan.

I’m using SP 2016, so maybe the new versions have better conversion detail from image to line drawing.
