I can not get the tops of my trapezoid windows to line up. I have tried every thing that I can think of, slope to wall, slope to ceiling which just squares off the tops even though I have a cathedral ceiling drawn in the model. (see attached).

You may need to do some math. You'll need to adjust the height of each window to take into consideration the slope of the roof. For example, if you have a 6:12 pitch and your windows are 3'-6" wide with 6" in between, The first window might be 3'-6" tall, the next one would have to be 24" taller (4 x 6"), and so on.

Then, make sure you set the bottom of the windows all to the same elevation in the window edit menu, offset menu.

I typically generate a softplan elevation drawing, draw the window I need and then measure it, to edit the window on plan to ensure it's correct.

Wasn't going to step in but "shouldn't there be and easier way"?  Like "offset from roof", or "follow roof".

There is a "follow roof" function.

It's not too difficult. Math should be second nature when doing architectural design. If you can't do the math draw a diagram and just measure it.

I understand your point...BUT... the math is already done, the points are known by the software.  It's just a matter of a programmer spending maybe a day and issuing a patch.

In autocad any user could do it with just a bit of programming knowledge using autolisp.  My brother is a programmer for a large financial company and I've talked to him about how hard it is to work up something like that.

This is my largest frustration with SP (and probably would be with any of the other softwares) that there seems to be so much missing that should be there to make it easier to draft plans.  I guess in the end that I should just be satisfied that we CAN draw those window and get back to work.

We all have our lists of things they ought to improve. A group of us used to send a list in every so often. And, SP has been good at reviewing and implementing many changes we've requested in the past. It would be great to have a lot more simple and accurate automation on such things, and user control on many things. But, we are victims of what they can and will do. That, I guess, is why there are so many programs out there to choose from. Someone wasn't satisfied with the one they knew, so they came up with another, better one. Keep posting, making product suggestions, and asking for improvements. They listen.

I don't see were Softplan allows me to adjust the heights of each leg on a trapezoid window. it just aske's if I want to adjust to the ceiling, or the roof.

Don't even need math, in my case just create a dummy rear elevation and take some dimensions to help me determine trap heights or create custom radius window elevations for window creation.

Another great way to find the right sizes.
