SP places it directly under the ridge line and I don't want this one there.  How do I move it?

Instead of the gable wall being provided by the roof edge you could turn that of and draw a wall for your gable. Or use fit wall to roof. Then place the vent like you would a window.

You'll have to draw the vent as an opening in a gable wall with fit to roof selected on the wall. It cannot be offset horizontally as a vent in a roof edge edit menu. You could try cheating the system by building a custom vent, but the work-arounds may be a huge pain. If you only need to represent in a rendering, you can use a symbol and place it wherever you want.

I tried that but I must have something else configured wrongly because when I put in a wall there it doesn't fit to roof it fits to about 10' above it.  Not working for me at all.

Might be time to retire.

Not sure how you may want it to work but perhaps add it as an opening in a wall

Can you send a screen shot..not 100% on whats happening to your wall.

1. fit the wall to roof

2. drop in a vent opening like you would a window, then you can shift it laterally.
