Once again I have a drawing complete and fully dimensioned.  All my walls look the way I want, and are dimensioned properly.  I edit one wall definition, and 3 other walls in my drawing change to random wall styles and sizes.  The issues may be related to templates, but at no time over the last few days of working on this project did I change any of the templates.  I did copy some wall styles from another project and paste them in using the softplan clipboard, but that should add the wall definition to the active template style list, right?

this is the third time I have had this issue, twice on project near completion, and once trying to create a drawing displaying all my wall styles for a client.

Has anyone else encountered this type of issue?

Can I not copy walls from project to project, or template to template?

Can anyone explain how if I want to change a wall from one style to another, softplan prompts me to select how they should align, but the software can make multiple changes throughout the drawing, even to different materials and widths, WITHOUT ANY WARNING?

If the issue is with templates (combined with my stupidity) can anyone tell me how to disable this "feature" that has caused me so much aggravation and time?

I have created tickets each time, but so far I have not ben able to resolve any of the issues.  I recreated several wall styles in the one drawing, and then others disappeared or changed, all on one active template...

I have read through all the documentation and posts I could find.  Nowhere is there a warning that the software will just chage your drawing without warnig or the ability to undo the changes.

Am I the only person that considers this a major flaw?

Thank you for ANY guidance or help...

Dave

Dave,

Are you changing your wall definitions or adding new ones to your system options or drawing options? Or, project options? Are you changing an existing wall definition slightly and then updating the project options or drawing options? Then, how are you adding them to your drawing? I find if I change the wall definitions at the drawing level it will keep the walls as they are in the rest of the model. But, sometimes when I change them at the system level or project level (which I have not done much of) depending on the position in the list I set the new wall definition it may change some other walls that are close in that list. I have had mixed results in the past. I have not had any difficulty recently that I recall.

Ultimately, if I believe I will ever need that wall definition for a future project I do place it in the system level. Then I reset my project and drawing wall definitions to the system so everything updates. That also can cause some walls to change on occasion (at least that's been my experience).

Well, Dave's problems using templates has certainly made me reluctant to try templates on a real project.  I'll set up a test project to try them out.

It appears that at least one issue is if you paste a wall into a drawing using the softplan clipboard, it is NOT added to the proper template(s).  Not sure if that is all my trouble, but certainly at least one of them.  The issue has been reported...

Good to know Dave. Thanks for sharing. Glad I don't use templates often.

I also had this happen, much to my horror!  The project was a mess and took about two hours to fix!  I have opted out of using templates, and this is one of the reasons!

Do you use RESET on your walls types at all, ot do you use CUSTOM wall types in drawings on the fly?
