Hi all,

I've tried to change the file extension of an autocad shx font to ttf with no success. Anyone know how to make this work. I really do not want to do this project in AutoCAD just because of the font. AVANT.shx

Thanks!

I never found a way to automatically convert a font.  But there is a work around if you want to take the time.

There are sites that will convert your "drawing" of you font to ttf online for free.  You'll have to google it, I do'nt have the link anymore.

1.  download their matrix to "draw" the font on.

2.  convert that matrix to an image.

3.  insert that image into a new autocad drawing.

4.  fill the matrix with all the letters of the font you want to use.

5.  either print that font as a pdf or image as the site requires and upload it to the site.

for some reason, I remember scanning mine but for the life of me I can't remember why I would have to scan it.

6.  wait for the site to convert your font and give you a link to down load.  the site I was using usually only took a min. or two to work.

IT sounds like a lot of work and my explanation may not be clear but if you find a site that will convert it should be a lot clearer.

Found this link on how to draw it. I can manipulate it with Photoshop easy enough to create it. Thank you!

I believe that is the one I used.  The template looks VERY familiar.  Good luck and let us see your font when you've finished.
