This is a duplicate of a post I made in the LUMION LIVESYNC thread, but I realised that some people may not see it as Lumion may not be relevant to them, so I decided to give it it's own thread.

TWINMOTION site ... https://www.unrealen...n-US/twinmotion ... it says "Get it FREE through early 2020!" So if you're at all interested grab it SOON.

I downloaded Twinmotion when it became available a few months ago. I had a few tentative goes at creating something (and was quite happy with what I did produce), but I've learned enough to know I NEED to learn a heck of a lot more to use it properly.

For anyone who's interested in trying it, there is another FREE rendering engine. KERKYTHEA ... http://www.kerkythea.net/cms/ ... that is worth trying (looking in the Gallery, the buildings look quite poor - although I suspect that's due to the quality of the drawn building itself, not the rendering engine). Quite a while ago (2½ years), I used it to create a Glass Chess Set that I drew in Sketchup ... The pieces are quite rudimentary, as I can't use Sketchup either.

Hi Keith,

I've just downloaded Unreal Engine/ Twinmotion

Trying to look quickly, what formats do they allow to be imported? skp?

Kieth,

I would assume the import method would be similar to a Sketchup import?

Just looking at some videos.

Twinmotion will import skp and works well with it.

Unreal will also import skp files but has some issues.  Unreal only recognizes single sided faces so you may have to reverse a lot of your faces in order to get them to be seen in Unreal.

Twinmotion doesn't have those issues.

Twinmotion is pretty user friendly while Unreal is much more complicated.

Here's one I did trying it out. Not super easy to work with starting out, but got used to it as I worked through it.

I decided to give Twinmotion a try. Downloaded the free version and watched a few YouTube videos on it. This image took about 20 minutes to produce with the software. I found the program pretty user friendly once you learn the interface. Best part obviously is the price----FREE! If you haven't downloaded it yet I would consider doing it soon. Not sure how much longer it will be available at this price.
