I am interested in hearing about anyone's experience with the Google Terrain Import feature for SoftPlan 2020. Does it actually have any value when making a site plan?

I've used it a few times with custom houses being built on private property and it is a pretty cool feature. As long as google has the information correct, it pulls it in pretty accurately.

Now with neighborhoods, it doesn't always work well in the sense that a lot of grading and dirt moving has been done since the last google satellite imagery was taken. We have a bunch of lots in one neighborhood that were padded, and google doesn't have that information obviously.

We are in the foothills and I find the information is not super accurate. It has more often made a mess of a site. Conceptually it is fine, but beyond that we have our civil guys give us the topo data they have access to which often tends to have more detail.
