Hi All!

Does anyone know/use a good model viewing website for clients to easily rotate the model on their time, on their device?

I have stopped suggesting Softplan Review because its too cumbersome for the general public, i.e. download first, loading file, model too small, mouse buttons, etc..

Most of our clients give up trying to figure it out (we have become impatient). It seems in this day and age we could have a 1 click link in an email to the client to view and rotate the finished 3d model.

Any luck out there??

Thank you!

I had used Sketchfab in the past, it was client friendly!

It might be worth checking out, and hopefully this helps.

I export to SketchUp, then I can set up views, section cuts and anything else I want them to see. And, they can use the free viewer, click through the scenes I set up, or watch a video of the scenes. And, they can orbit and go through the model as much as they want.

GO to Meeting works great for you to show off your work as well as develop any additional section cuts etc....and it is always a good thing to be around when a client is reviewing your work....amazing the questions and possible issue that are resoluved during a live presentation...

I use Zoom for screen shares w/ clients to review their model and plans.  I prefer to be in the driver's seat vs. having them trying to run an app or view on their own.

I appreciate most of the responses about screen share, although I was looking for some way to send the client a link to their model to rotate around. We do have regular face to face meetings (also screen share when out of town). However, the need for client access to the 3d model (on their time, without us present) is growing in demand. Thank you everyone! :)

Tom, how are you using Sketchfab? Did you sign up and pay for the usage, or just a viewer? Thank you!

I think SketchUp works great for such cases. It doesn't always look perfectly pretty when exporting from SP to SketchUp, but you can change the styles and look, plus cut sections anywhere that are viewable in 3D which helps a lot of people who have a hard time visualizing off still images, elevations and plans. Like you say, they can review it fully on their own time without you present.

I did not sign up for a Sketchfab plan because i didn't intend on using it that much. I believe there is a limit of 5 uploads for free? I did like how easy it was for the client to get the basic idea of roof lines and/or how an addition would blend in with the existing structure. It also didn't look 'perfectly pretty' after upload, but i probably didn't spend the extra time needed to tweak things. All i can say is give it a try on the free set-up and see if it might serve your need - and please keep us posted if you do!!!!

PS i know with the member plan it does offer password privacy for your clients - if you don't care for the public posting

Thanks, TOM
