Is there a way to inset the frieze on the gables similar to a  wall?  Or do you extend the gable overhang the thickness of the frieze to mimic the shadow.  I figure a 5/4 frieze.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't see a way to inset it in the roof menu. Maybe someone else has a trick? Sometimes using interiors and drawing crown or chairrail allows for some adjustment you wouldn't have with exterior trim controls. Or, drawing a beam that slopes and has the profile you want, then adjusting it's position. Or, just having the wall fit to soffit and using the wall edit menu would be the better way to get what you want. Otherwise you could try using "draw profile" in SoftView (3D) and see if you can get the result you are hoping for.

Thanks Mark...it's not a big deal.  Did not know if I overlooked something.  I increased the  gable oh to create a little shadow.  While I got you on the phone..is there a way to increase the distance the sheathing overhangs past the fascia.  I get a good share of historical stuff whereby the sheathing extends down past a pc of crown at the eaves.   Always in play are the Victorian dormers.  To date, on the permit set I just go around the elevations and adjust in 2D and show it correct in the crosses.

Stay well...

I think the only setting for the sheathing is in your roof option settings (when in roof mode). It is down in the lower right corner of the option settings window. But, it is limited to how it overhangs the fascia only. I believe any gable shadow trim board will sit outside of the sheathing, but the roofing will adjust to cover it.
