How do you remove lines generated by walls butted together? (cloud circled)

 

I've changed wall joins to 0", taken out of clean up, nothing works

 

Is there a better way to do step foundations without separating the wall sections?

Also, they only show up when shaded, textured is ok...

I had something similar happen to me.  I created a 'ticket' and this is the response I got from tech support:

 

Switch your elevation view back to Model mode, then select Options > Mode Options > Line Options > and enable Silhouette to resolve these lines. Then switch back to Annotated mode.
