I'm trying to create a 3D stair similar to what is shown on the attached photo. I've gone into my project and drawing options and changed the material settings on the stair tread to be 4" thick and stringers to 8" wide but it's not showing up in 3D even after recreating it with the new settings. Ideas?

I had the same issue when I tried to recreate what you had done.

Once you have made the changes in your drawing options you will need to erase the existing stair and draw it again.

The new stair will show it correctly.

I did have to redraw it but I had to use the sketch stair tool, not the predefined ones. That's where the hangup was at. Would never have guessed that!

The stairs that are saved into the libraries are similar to symbols. They maintain the information that was saved into them when they were created.

The sketched stairs utilize the settings that you have in the Drawing or Project level options. That said, you can then save those custom stairs into a library for future use without having to modify them each time.

Great work Heather.

Word of caution, I steer people away from horizontal cable.  Little children see it and the first thing that goes through their head is "ladder".............It bums me that mainstream pushes it so much.  But it looks pretty!!!

I do wish that tread thickness was controlled on the stair settings. I have a home with 2 stairs and one of them has the open tread. I would need to keep jumping to drawing settings rather than just modifying the stair tread depth on the stair itself. I really hope the new version coming up enhances stairs, especially landings...
