What is the best way to incorporate a floor plan at different scales?  i.e. an 1/8" plan that shows certain information and a 1/4" blow up of certain areas?  How does can the text settings be set different for each instance?  Can one plan be placed in a custom mode?

I've done it using a custom mode.  It took a bit of planning to make it all work together.

You could do it by using layers.  But that would be much more work.

Unfortunately, this is where an autocad(sucks) kind of software design excels.

My biggest concern is character set up.  i.e. if small font is 4" in 1/4 scale, then it needs to be 8" in 1/8 scale.  I don't know of a way to toggle between the 2?  Perhaps there is?

Could you save one copy as a drawing and make the changes in text scale there?

Edward - Is this what you're talking about? I use plan sets - you take the same plan and drag it in and simply select the scale you'd like to display it at, then crop the view of the plan if you only want to display a small part of it.

When the drawings are on your plan set page, you can edit them and choose to scale notes, but in the past it didn't work very well. I haven't tested it in a long time though.

Derk - These still don't "scale" the dimensions and notes.  I had a terrible time with plan sets as they re-set all of my walls.  I lost a good day redoing the walls and re-dimensioning the plans!  UGH!

There used to be a feature to Auto Scale note sizes but I don't believe that works with SoftPlan's Plan Set feature. It would be nice if it did.

I would also appreciate the ability to preview or change the scale of the text in the drawing modes as well to see what it will look like when we drag them over to plan sets at different scales. Presuming if Auto Scale worked.

I prefer to do this.  see attached.  I give the building official everything he needs.  I produce a framers copy without all the extras.

Are the dimensions readable on the 1/16" floor plan?

I doubt that they are so I would hide the small dimensions and on a different layer apply larger readable dimensions just for the 1/16 scale drawing.

Did you try checking the "Autoscale Notes" box when you edited the drawing?
