Trying to draw a brick pier on top of Concrete block on top of a footing

I tired to draw a 24" square cube for footing and then a 16" square cube on top that for block and then a 16" square cube on that for brick pier. When I surface edit it the program changes all surfaces to the sane texture . How can I make them all different ?

I did it with changing solids to solid 1 ,2 and 3 . I think this works.

Yes, different solid numbers will allow for different textures to be assigned to them.
