Is there any way to adjust the camera elevation when moving around in a 3D rendering?

I find that when I am moving around a 3D rendering the camera is too high above the floor so I would like it to be closer to the floor if possible.

While in SoftView, go into camera edit menu and you can select the height of the camera, and the height of the focus for each view you set up.

Thanks I think I understand what you are saying and that works fine while outside the building but what I am looking for is a way to set the camera/view height above the floor while moving within the 3D building.  Currently I can set the height to where I want it but as soon as I move left, right, forward or backwards it quickly resumes the previous height.

Holding down the right mouse button will lock the camera height while moving with the keyboard.

A Space Navigator 3D mouse is the way to go though.

Can't remember where, but I remember seeing a standard camera elevation for walking in the system/drawing options somewhere.  Sorry can't look right now..
