Has anyone tried Canvas?

I think we are almost done with tape measures on site visits.

I just installed this on my iPhone 12 (with Lidar) and scanned my house in about 20 minutes.  The model it creates is within 1-2% of actual distances and can be imported into ACad, Revit, Chief, Sketchup, but not... Softplan.

If anyone has any ideas on a workaround to bring these models into Softplan, maybe via (sketchup?), I would be curious to hear your ideas.

If you haven't tried this, seriously, check this out.  https://canvas.io/sketchup

It's not perfect but it already works way better on my phone than in the video above and it's getting better quickly.

So how do we make it work with Softplan???

Interesting, it would sure save a lot of time instead of having to hand measure an entire house for a remodel! I did see something on the site about contacting them at support@canvas.io to ask them to add the Softplan file format.

I had planned to try that several years ago with an add-on for my iPad, but found it wasn't quite there yet, so never pulled the trigger. I would love to see SP pick up a way to bring it directly into our system. If not, getting a DWG to import may be the best option. If you have SketchUp or a DWG program you can use it might work okay.

In what file format are you able to save the scan?

On the Canvas website, so far I've only come across information on their "Scan to CAD" offering, which it looks like they charge $39 each time, and then they send the files to you.

Meeting with them tomorrow to see if there is a way to do a workaround to get this into SP and find out more about when they expect to be able to convert to CAD onboard, which they say is coming soon.

I agree that this wasn't there yet, even last spring, and realistically, 1-2% still needs improvement but with lidar, the app has taken a huge leap forward.
