i am trying to draw a roof on a small porch.  the multi roof command doesn't bring up an overlay drawing menu as everything i read indicates it should but it did create the separate roofs for the 2nd floor and one level garage...the porch roof only has posts for support, so there are no walls. i have tried trace roof, but that results in only a single roof plane.  any suggestions appreciated.

You have to construct the porch exactly as it would actually be built, with beams on the posts to create a structure. You should also put a beam the front (assuming a gable front) that is hidden so that the front face has something to reference too.

The multi-roof command should bring up the drawing menu, so you can choose a plan. However, I'm not sure why you would want to use a multi-roof for the porch, unless you are drawing it on the second floor plan.

While I haven't tried it yet, there is an "ignore walls" option in the roof edit screen that is supposed to allow you to create and manipulate a roof without referencing walls and/or beams. Also. I always get messed up by forgetting to apply a "vertical incline" for the intersecting edges.
