Hello, I'm attempting to create clarity through various line styles and thicknesses.

Yet I can't seem to make a simple dashed line that is thick.

attached is a jpg of 3 lines. the one on top I can create easily with other programs, but the two below are the product of SoftPlan.

I'd appreciate some help.

Configure it with the PRINT PENS ... You can set 16 pens to have different characteristics. print with different line thicknesses or colours (or both).

Keith, thank you very much. This would be heinous if not for the Print View on one's plan set view.

I guess this isn't a wysiwyg environment.

Anyway, that did the trick. Thanks for the community!

if you go Drawing Options -> Mode Visibilities -> Drawing, you can check or uncheck the Display Print Pen Style.  This will allow you to see the thicker or thinner lines accordingly on the screen.  As Keith mentioned earlier, pen thickness is determined by the Pen Style in Pen Setup.  Each pen (up to 16) can be configured with a different thickness and/or color.

OK, thanks Tim. I was looking in the print pen setup window and didn't see that option there, however did see it in the plan set page setup option... thought that was what he meant. thanks for including the path as to where to find that setting. They now show up on the drawing screen as desired.

Just below Mode Visibilities you'll see Pen Setup, then click on Configure Print Pen Styles. You need to change it in the Drawing/Project Options for the Project your'e working on, then change it in the System Options for new projects.

I also put a shortcut for Visible Items on the Tool Bar, so that I can get there in one click. I just found in the keyboard shortcuts the F9 key brings it up.

It is a real shame that this can't be automatic in the software. Select the line type, (dashed) set the thickness like normal and it just fills in the dashed blocks to make the line. I have not had a "pen" plotter for years. Setting a pen type/weight just seems kind of "Bulky" for this process.

You can always edit these options in the layer box, and then place those lines on that layer... The line should then take the settings of the layer it's on. Without having to edit the line itself.
