I have toyed around with printing a plan in 3-D I have to convert it with several programs and end up with poor results, has anyone been able to do this?  perhaps next version?

Nice! i see with the new Version 2022 + there is now the option to export .stl files. this should help in my efforts to be able to offer this service, and up my Drafting Service!

What brand of 3-D printer are you using?

3d printing interests me, i see potential but know very little on the technology and what hardware would work well in our field.  Gary's project looks interesting but not much bigger then a key chain or tree ornaments...1/8 scale or 1/4 scale would be cool but no idea how that translates in to what hardware or price we'd be looking at.

This should work for you if you don’t want to 3D print small houses...

I wouldn't want to do a scaled print at say 1/4 or 1/8" because this would require a very large printer. and the cost of the plastic would be cost prohibitive. this small protect takes about 8 hours to print (per print) the size is about 3" square on both of them.

I had mentioned to the SoftPlan reps the last time that I saw them at the builders show when they showcased some 3d printing there at their booth, that I would really like to see a future feature of SoftPlan where I can go up to the corner button and click 3d Print just as easily I can click print for my plotter. If they would be able to take the converting and transferring over to other software out of the picture it would make the function that much more useful to me. I am not saying that they should get rid of the export or the need to support all variants of 3d printers that are available today. Just if they had the one that they designed the software for, I would buy that one and then hope that it would be able to work with my SoftPlan model so that it easily automatically fixes areas of concerns like windows mullions in grille patterns so that they do not break during the make process.

For me personally it is all about efficiency because I can see how it can be helpful for client meetings but I am not looking to spend more time on something that ultimately clients would not be willing to pay for. So if it was quick enough and therefore I could do a small upcharge I think that it really would be great in my industry experience.
