How do you make an entirely new wall list....I do commercial work on occasion and need to develop new wall types on a regular basis.....Some Architects need several different wall definitions as per the local authority having jurisdiction:  there are numerous UL rating wall systems and many times the Architects require each wall type delineated etc etc....would like the list to be organized by manufacturer...i.e. US Gyp etc and/or by UL rating...i.e. 1hr, 2hr 3 hr etc. or metal stud gauge etc.

Thanks

Buddy

Would it work for you if you saved one of your previous commercial projects as a template to be used only for commercial projects?

Buddy,

Be REALLY careful. If you change your wall list you will (or at least used to) LOSE ANY AND ALL Custom walls you have created. Ensure you back up your walls so you can restore them if necessary.

I personally ADD every wall I commonly use into a standard wall list, and add CUSTOM walls on a drawing by drawing basis on the fly.

Wall Definitions are kept in a separate file in the SPUtil folder.  You can create a whole new definition list if you want by copying the current (or another one) and change the suffix.  The suffix on the files are numbered sequentially.  The first one is Walldefs.000, then Walldefs.001, Walldefs.002, etc.  Just don't overwrite one that is already there or you will lose whatever is in it.  You can then load the new walldef file inside the softplan project and begin to massage it as needed adding definitions and deleting others.  If you look at the install definitions that come with softplan, one of them will already have some commercial wall definitions in it that you can use as a jumping off point.

Make a Drawing Template and call it "Commercial" and Edit the Wall list as needed, add to System. Every time you use that template and you add a new wall add to System to update the Commercial Template.
