I am considering upgrading from 2016 to 2020. Softplan+ is not available in Scotland. I have noticed that a lot of the 2020 version new features are mostly only available on Softplan+. Is it worth it if I cannot reap the benefits of Softplan+. Also is there any way of getting the Softplan+ symbol libraries. I seem to remember them being available on a disk. Thanks In Advance

Hi Steven,

I'm down in London UK and would also consider this as an interesting option even though I've just upgraded to 2020 with soft talk but depends upon cost.

Thanks for bringing that up.

Kind regards

David Edlin

I have +2020 and appreciate tech support speed, I use ResCheck to generate energy reports and believe  + is required for exporting data to ResCheck.  Lastly if you collaborate with other users on projects, + is great for linking projects with other + users.

occasionally I use + ever expanding symbol library....its almost too many symbols, i prefer to keep my prints clean and simple the + library symbols are generally from the suppliers and huge data hogs when making section cuts.

cloud storage is fine but every tech company provides this service and with the speed of PC's its easy to make redundant data drives that sync or backup.

all things considered.....I'd recommend getting +  you'll get updates as soon as released.

I'm sure there are workarounds to achieve the large database of symbols but realistically we're professionals providing a service as fast and efficiently as possible so ripping off data is low on my priority list.

Hi David,

Do you use softlist ? I have recently started looking at using it but just think it is too far set up for imperial measurement. If so did you have to spend hours changing all the material sizes and formulas? Are there a lot of uk users that you are aware of?

Hi Joseph, Yes I agree that upgrading to Softplan+ if I lived in the USA or Canada would be a no brainer but I just feel that what is available in the UK is missing a lot of the good parts of the upgrade. Do you know if Softplan plan to make these parts available abroad in the future. I believe there are quite a few users in Australia who would be in the same situation.

Thanks for the replies

Steven

Hi Steve,

Changing measurements from Imperial to metric - System Options, Dimensions. It would produce Soft list in metric although a few details would possibly still be imperial.

I have not worked with soft list very much although I do need to.
