I was wondering if you can edit 2D symbols while keeping the corresponding 3D symbols the same. For example, I want to only change the stock 2D symbol for the 6in can light and keep its 3D symbol as is. What is the best way to do this? Also without having to correct the offset and other settings for the symbol.

You really need to create a new symbol, then assign the same 3D symbol, and all attributes to that new symbol. Easiest way is to draw the current symbol, explode it (2D) and then make what adjustments you want and save as a new symbol, then do all the other parts the same as the original.

I've suggested on numerous occassions that the 2D symbol be editable ... I have mild OCD and it really bothers me that the standard light symbol isn't exact ... if you haven't noticed two of the sides are different lengths than the other two, so the centre of the symbol isn't exactly centred on the circle. Little thing I know, but as a friend of mine once said, "If you haven't got time to do it right the first time, how come you have time to do it twice?".

Haha yeah I wish it was simpler to edit the stock symbols that are sometimes really close to your liking but not quite haha
