I'm sure the answer to this is either "it doesn't work that way, dummy" or "just do this" but here's my question. I'm trying to move an elevation saved from the model. The linework moves but the model paint doesn't. All layers are unlocked. Ideas?

Are you trying to move it on a plan set page or the drawing page?

It is my opinion you should never move elevation or section geometry once produced and saved as it all ties to the drawings they were produced from. By not moving them you have the opportunity to make updates or changes to plans and copy and paste changed geometry into a previous version (potentially cleaned up the way you want) of an elevation or section with good success of it showing in the correct place. Then, you do not have to clean up the whole thing again. Of course there are always exceptions.

 

But, if you do have to move it you will want to be sure everything is visible so nothing gets left behind (also some exceptions). Then, you will want to be sure to select all of it. But, if some things do not highlight, you may have them on a locked layer, or be in a drawing mode that does not allow them to be selected. Once you get past that, I strongly suggest writing yourself a note on how far you moved it (non-printable notes on the drawing are best) just in case you need to update the drawing, but don't want to go through cleaning up or adding to the whole thing again.

Model Paint DOESN'T move. it is generated with the model and can't be moved.

 

Which leads to the next question ... WHY do you need to move the elevations on the drawing? You should NEVER "NEED" to move the generated drawings.

Maybe I was doing it differently. I don't use model paint often as I try to use live drawings. But, I got it all to move when I generated an elevation??

Apologies ... I tried again, you can move the model paint. However, you have to have ALL the paint including the seed point within the block move window.

Keith - seed point - that was the key. Once I turned it on, the paint moves nicely with the linework. Thanks!
