I am a long time Softplan13 user. I am very fluent in floor plan drawing and dimensioning in that version. I have recently upgraded to SP+.

I do not want the program to automatically dimension my plan plans. I just don't like what it dimensions and I want to control this. I have been working on a test drawing. I don't mind the program adding dimensions as I form the plan but when i am ready finalize the construction drawings, I typically erase the dimensions and add extension where I want them then add my dimension. The program keeps adding dimensions over my dimensions and this is getting old. I don't need to tell any of you that dimensioning is the most important part of any drawing. How do I turn off this feature that wants to guess where I want to add a dimension. I hope I have explained this right. I am not using the "auto dimension" command

There's a button on the toolbar for "auto dimension". If you toggle it off it will stop.

I did do that and still when ever I place my curser on my drawing, ( when I had just dimensioned something) it wants to add a dimension in one direction or the other. Hitting escape should cancel the command but it doesn't. Is this just something I will need to get use to?

There is also a box you can check or uncheck in the System options named "Display Temporary Dimensions".  Upper right corner.

Not that one either ...

The AUTO DIMENSION on the toolbar does just that ... it AUTO DIMENSIONS ... it's not a toggle switch.

In the System Options menu (shown above) uncheck AUTO DIMENSION AND EXTENSION

That's not quite right. On my toolbar there are 2 auto dimension buttons . The one on the left is the command and the one

on the right toggles auto dimension on and off.

Apologies Henry. I wasn't aware there were two different Auto Dimension toolbar buttons. Thanks for pointing that out.
