I have designed a exterior shutter to attach to he elevation of the home I’ve designed . I drew it on the floor plan sheet and thought I saved it as a symbol. Now how can I incorporate it into my library and also be able to attach it to my windows and doors in plan view so it will show up on my elevations and also in 3D. Thanks for any help. Steve

You have to do it in a drawing by itself, then export it from the 3D view. Then pull it back in creating a symbol... There's a process somewhere on here I can't remember where but someone should post the link when they see your thread.

As Jon said, you'll have to:

1. create things of this nature as solids

2. open them in 3d (make sure they're the only thing in the 3d)

3. save as .dwg

4. import this .dwg back in SoftPlan thru the symbol wizard as a symbol.

Once you've done this enough times i'll be very easy, this procedure used all the time to create things needed for the plan unavailable on the web or SP database.  I'm sure if you search around the SP forums you'll find the exact procedure.  i used a few kinds of keystones so just created my own.

You can also use third party software like SketchUp for tricky things needed.
