Hello,

I'm new to SoftPlan, so I apologize in advance for the newbie nature of this question. I have been editing a 2018 house plan I purchased in my new SoftPlan 2020. I need to raise the height of all the walls by a foot, so I did that (wall by wall) but it caused the roof to go wonky. I did go in and change the elevation of every 'roof edge' by 12", but still a mess. My question is:

Is there a way to raise the elevation of an entire roof system by 1 ft, then copy and paste it into another saved version of the same floor plan?  I am thinking I will just have to start from scratch, but thought I would check.

This would also answer my question about copy and paste elements from other versions of the the same floor - as that does not seem possible?

Screenshots attached.

Thanks!

Reference points are often the culprit. If you have the roof set to regenerate and the model open while adjusting walls SP will try to keep updating while you are adjusting. Turning off regenerate for each roof may help. Also working without the model open could help.

Try to get all wall heights set, then try adjusting the reference points back to the appropriate walls and see if it cleans up. Otherwise may be best to set each roof on it's own layer or building option and go back through and regenerate each while the others are locked on their own layer.

If I am understanding your question correctly, after you adjust the wall heights you should be able to go into roof mode and right click on the roof you would like to adjust then select regenerate. This should automatically snap the roof to the new wall height as long as the walls didn't move and the reference points are in the correct location.

To copy your roof and move to another plan you can select the "copy to clip board" button. Then click and drag a box over what you would like to copy. Finally go to the plan where you would like the roof to be copied to and select the "paste from clipboard" option. Position the roof as close as you can to where you want it and click. Then right click on the roof and select regenerate. If it doesn't snap automatically where you want it you may have to select adjust and position the reference points in the correct location.

I use the copy to clip board and paste from clip board buttons a lot. If they are not appearing in your tool bar you can select the down arrow at the end of the tool bar > add or remove buttons > customize > scroll down and select "all commands" > and find the copy to clip board and paste from clip board buttons. When you find them, click and drag the button to where you want them on your tool bar.

Hope this helps!

Jared and Mark, thank you much. I had used this process incorrectly (to select an area and copy to clipboard). Coming from a mac, there are a few things I need to re-think :-)
