After using Softplan for at least 25 years or so ( version 8 ).

The world truly belongs to the young.

Which one of these do you think is easier to see for us old codgers who have been with you from nearly the start?

Point Made.

Just to clarify as it seems some people here are getting a good laugh at my expense.

I uploaded the image and it said all was good. I did not check and went about my VERY busy work life drawning floor plans.

Softplan 2022 has menus that are much harder to see in my personal opinion.

Gary, Being an old codger as well I am having difficulty deciphering the point you have made.

Please put this in terms my well worn mind can understand. Thanks, Steve :)

Well, I guess I probably have forgotten more about Softplan than you will really ever know.

Here are just a brief smattering of a small amount of my projects.

http://gmdesignservices.com/

My web page. Design, built, programmed and maintained by me. Just a very small selection of some older plans.

http://tejamescustomhomes.com/

ONE of my clients. Website designed, built, programmed and maintained by me. All graphics by me. All videos by me. 95% of all plans designed by me.

My YouTube channel. I do not really have the time to maintain it so really new stuff may not be there. But there are a few pretty neat things.

http://www.youtube.c...ysaGZm3Q/videos

ONE of my clients YouTube channel. Built and maintained by me. Everything on this channel is my design. All videos, floor plans, graphics. etc.

I will be looking for my Home Care Nurse.

Regards,

Gary

Not necessarily, the young probably use the awful ribbon bars which (going back to much lower resolution screens) took up half the available drawing area, with massive icons (okay not half) ... which it looks like both you and i promptly turned off, and used classic toolbars.

The ribbon bars look cartoon like in my opinion. Yes they take up way too much screen real estate.

I happen to be a younger(ish) man myself, but I can say that I hated when programs switched over to the ribbon for that same reason; I prefer to have as much drawing space on the screen as possible.

I agree 100%. 2020 icons were much easier to pick out as opposed to 2022.

I agree too. I don't understand why the icons have to be "UPDATED" with every program version. Why fix something that wasn't broken. The menu bar icons (as opposed to the ribbon bar icons) are now extremely bland and in a lot of cases unobvious. I only know what some of them are, because of their location on the menu bar.

I thought I was the only one that disliked the new "icons" Had got used to the 2020 and now the eraser is so faint you cant find the thing... Surely will find the upgrades though that make it better.

agreed, I'm not fond of the new "faded" icons and the faded inactive drawing names on the toolbar. It does make it harder to see. However, it's a small issue that i'm sure we will get used too.

I use the icons way too much, rather than keyboard shortcuts... (the reason why is a long story)

so I think I'm rather informed on the topic of using icons..

I'm not sure it matters to me, at all, even in the slightest, what the icons look like.. really..

In my judgement, if you use the program on any type of regular basis, then you likely have your icons set up on a customized toolbar... and you likely have the "locations" of the icons more or less "memorized" and committed to muscle memory.. that's my situation...I barely even look at them...

I can't even fathom being bogged down by the "artwork" of the icons.. I would not have thought it possible, if folks had not mentioned here on this forum...

ugh.. I guess I've been looking at these icons for way way way too many years ...

I agree that the 2020 icons were imo better than 2022.  please create a patch to return them to 2020.

I agree, I really liked the 2020 icons these are a disappointment.

Maybe we could have an option to chose the type of icon we want?

The faded icons blend a little too much for me. The old icons stood out better and it was easier for me to pick them out of the toolbar at a quick glance. I'd prefer the old icons.

Finally upgraded over here.  I have to agree...the new icons are much harder to see and I'm constantly searching for things.  Why fix something that wasn't broken in the first place?
