you can create straight ramps a few ways

1.  stairs / sketch / ramp  > (front)

2.  stair / sketch / straight and edit the stairs  (top left)

note: a lot of thin risers.

play with the tread / number and height

make the tread as think as you can

the more treads, the smoother the ramp will look.

PLAY with the stair ramp.  you'll get it in a short time

3.  solid wedge (a couple) (can also use solid cubes)  top right

4.  sloped wide wall.  (not shown)

you can make curved ramps with walls.

note: you have to go into system library / symbols

and edit any symbol and check "slope to reference.

and than after you place the symbol on the ground (I added a small sloped property just under the ramp

and gave it an incline) and than edited the wheel-chair and checked the box for "slope to reference"

Or, like I did for my exterior ramp, slope a sidewalk.  v.14.

Could you also use a wide beam and angle it ?

What about using a roof with hidden beams  ?

Randy - Which method is which in the image that you posted? I know, but it may be handy for others who don't to decide.

Each method has advantages and drawbacks. If it's going to be a wooden ramp with "stringers" then it really has to be done as a staircase, although the ramp makes the handrails easier ... especially if the have spindles.

I never knew that there was a ramp located under the stair command. It would be nice though if you can display some information on the plan like the direction and slope.

Just adding a ramp to a project, and I've realised, that the methods of drawing a ramp may need a little revamping.

Typically our ramps are constructed with 2" x 10" stringers on beams, and the current methods don't really cover it. If you use a ramp, you have a solid wedge, but the handrails look right. If you use a staircase with MANY small risers, then the ramp looks right, but the railings try to put 2 spindles per step and that doesn't look right. Using a ramp, the handrails don't cut the ramp like they do a stair, so the plan also looks wrong. Nothing seems to be ideal.
