Making templates for detail drawings at various scales...is there a setting that sets the distance the dimension numbers are from the dimension line? And is there a setting that sets the distance an extension line starts from what it snaps to? See attached image -

in Dimension Options, Offset controls the distance from the dimension line to the dimension number. As far as I remember, 0 is the default distance that can be increased or decreased. Try playing with the offset and adjust as necessary.
