I could use some great grass textures for my renderings.  Its time to kick them up a notch and be selling more stock plans!   Could also use some additional backgrounds.   If anyone has any they'd love to share, please email to sam@morganfinehomes.com    Sure appreciate it!

For backgrounds, I Google 'vistas' (or 'sky' or whatever) and look at 'images', .. some may be copyrighted though, ..

Alternately, .. I Google Earth my way around and take screen shots from various highways and by ways.

Some images don't always work though, .. depends on the level of your Render, .. I tend to use Watercolour a lot, so it often works for me.

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

Filter Forge seems to be still giving a way a copy of FILTER FORGE 3 - See this link you can download grass filters and make up to 30,000 different variations of each one by adjusting settings.

I really would encourage the downloads of FILTER FORGE ... The seamless textures that it creates are really handy for Softplan, and I can advise - up to a point - if there are any issues.

That looks really good Douglas. How do you get the foreground textures so good?

Keith, ..

Parts of the foreground are 'rocks' from 3D warehouse, .. the texture I give them in Softplan is chosen from 'Terrain'

The 3D rocks are scaled and stretched to suit , .and textures chosen and scaled to suit.

The Background (from base of mountains up) is a screen shot taken while travelling Google Earth

The Foreground (from (and including) the trees and lake at the base of the mountains is all Softplan.

(the one exception being a 3D rock from 3D warehouse for the foreground)

Billboard trees are scaled to suit their distance from the viewer.

Some ‘Plants’ in the foreground are actually billboard trees

.. scaled to the miniscule (relative to their original sizes)

Texture for rock is chosen from Softplan ‘terrain’
