Hello,

I know I've seen something on this on the forums but I can't find it. I'm trying to figure out how to get the inside face of exterior doors & windows to flush out with the inside face of frame when using brick veneer instead of being centered in the wall. A link to the post would be fine.

Thank you,

Jerry Quesenberry

Edit your door and under the Plan Tab, check the Frame Offset and enter zero.

You can also in your Wall definition set in Options the Opening Offset to zero.

MAYBE you are thinking of making the door frame width to 0.00".

thay way it'll make the frame width from inside to outside of wall.

you can do that in drawing option / material dimension / opening options.

make the "FRAME WIDTH"  to 0.00"

that'll affect all the openings in your drawing

Thank you for your assistance! The Wall Definition option was the one I was looking for. If you do not set the door/window to 0", there is a slimmer of a gap between the casing and the thin face that SoftPlan inserts as a filler between the casing and the door/window in 3D. You will not notice it if your walls are white but when you use another wall color it shows. This makes the windows look a bit odd in plan view but I don't think I have another option.

On a side note, any idea why my brick wraps correctly on my doors but not on my windows?

The texture's added from the bottom of the opening. Since the door and the bottom of the wall are both at the same level, it wraps correctly. On the window it will depend on the depth. When you add the floor, the door may not show correctly either.

I don't think you're supposed to be that picky.

That's due to the difference between the rough opening and the actual window size. You didn't put the caulking in correctly .... SORRY, SORRY you can't do that, just couldn't resist it. I've never bothered to differentiate between window size and R.S.O.

Keith trying to be funny. Didn't know you had it in ya. :) Is there no way to adjust the texture location or starting point to correct that? You would think that all of the textures like that would have the same base coordinate or at least a way to adjust for it. It bothers me that I'm working my tail off trying to get the model right only to have something I can't control create an eye sore. Keith you need to find a way to fix it!

I don't believe that you can adjust it. It bothers me too (you've seen how anal I am). Especially when you have stepped walls and the horizontal siding bands don't line up. But in the great scheme of things, it's not really that important. You're selling the design to your clients.

You can adjust this by changing the offset of the window. By moving up 1/2" or so, the mortar joints that wrap the sides of the window will line up with the wall. The top of the window vs. the top of the door may not be 100% accurate, but that would be less noticeable in 3d than the joints not lining up. As it is, it looks like the top of the door has a sliver of a brick course, where the window does not.
