Open an elevation or section and you will see a choice between model and annotated. Choose annotated. Then you can add the elevation markers and notes. You can turn off automatic updates on the markers there as well.

You can draw symbols, notes, speed notes, and dimensions.

Great question, because I am a new SP user and (migrating over from Chief Architect) I thought things like framing references and level lines would come pre drawn with package.  So in this respect Chief Architect is light years ahead of Softplan.  But, you can create your own symbols, and I created them for elevation references shown in 2D, like the framing reference for the 1st floor sub-floor as being 0'-11 1/2" along with a framing reference marker to go with it.
But...
After I saved the symbol(s), every time I go to place them half of the text disappears.  Its been two days now trying to get an answer from technical support as to why this happens.  Everything shows up in the library preview, and everything shows up on the first placement click of the mouse.  But after the second mouse click to set the orientation, a dialog box comes up.  At this point the symbol is still intact.  As soon as the dialog box is closed, all of the text above the horizontal line of the marker disappears.

Did you set ATTRIBUTES for the text?

Can you snag and post some examples of what you are having trouble with? I am not quite sure what you are having trouble with... if you are in annotated mode, aren't the "level lines" generated automatically?

I don't even know what an Attribute is.  These are the first symbols I have tried to create.  But I will look into it.

Thanks.

I will look into that.  I thought the datum markers were only generated in Elevation Views, not plan views.
Thanks.

I did this with a plan I am just starting to work out. I can easily add my elevation marker and notes. Make sure you have the elevation showing in annotated view. Look near the top of my screenshot and you'll see it highlighted.
