Good Morning!  Received a request for bid to generate rendering for HOA submittal.

Attached elevations plus floorplan with exterior dimensions only, all hand drawn/

pdf format/no computer generated files available.

How to , anyone trace elevation pdf and generate rendering from traced 2d drawing in 3D,

and how much to charge, regionally adjusted fees understood, to generate attached

hand drawn elevations to full rendering is the question,

Don't trace the 2D elevation, just use for reference.  Trace the floorplan and generate a 3D model.  Shouldn't take too long.

I do this all the time for architects who use Acad to show their 2D plans as a 3D model for the client.

David , Yes I have generated a floor plan to develop the 3D rendering, house is 6,300 square feet and the

owners would like to pay about 200.00 for rendering of the house for HOA and I was just wondering if

anyone has been able to develop any acceptable renderings using the 2D PDF supplied. The hand drawn

floorplan is not complete, came with exterior dimensions only and front elevations only. I could use the 2D

with paint but as SP users know this is not as impressive as 3D. Hand drawings are by the builder without

CAD capability.

$200.00???  What does that breakdown to in the number of mhrs?  An hour and a half?

For that kind of money, can you buy the designer/builder a box of crayons and let him finish the job?  j/k

The owners are in for a surprise when they get your quote   Lol

Is it just me or are clients requests getting ridiculous? Guess they want to squeeze as much out of us as possible?

I did this for another designer once that doesn't offer any 3D.  I charged 50 cents a s/f and provided renderings of just about every room in the house for his client

For exterior only, that may not be too bad.  I had to define all rooms and do all the interior fixtures, cabinets, etc etc...was a lot of work.  People don't understand how much work goes into it.  If I were to do it an include lumion renderings, I'd bid a buck a foot

If they need more than that, then they are subjecting a lot of people to really unnecessary expense.

I've never had an HOA ask me for more than what I can do really quickly in softplan.  Sometimes I'll throw in some from lumion to blow them away a little more  :)
