At times when I try to import a pdf hand sketch of a drawing as lines it will only import as an image.  Other times it will import the sketch as lines.  Is there a rhyme or reason for this?  A setting I'm not seeing?  Thanks!

Softplan can only import a PDF as lines/shapes if it was created as a vector PDF. If you try to import a scan, scans (even though PDF's) are bitmapped (raster) images, and therefore can't possibly be imported as shapes.

Is it possible to convert a raster image into a vector pdf?  Thanks!

Generally no, but I believe that there are a couple of BITMAP TRACING utilities that may produce something useable.

Ok!  Thanks Keith.  Might be easier to trace over the raster pdf with walls even though I can't see what I'm doing? Never stopped me before. Will certainly check out BITMAP TRACiNG utilities.
