I have held off upgrading to 2022 rather than trying to be the first guy in line as I have in all prior updates since v14.  I've been so buried with work the last year that I just couldn't convince myself to upgrade then deal with the patches over and over again.  Every previous upgrade has always been great after a couple months of patches then things work pretty seamlessly till the next upgrade.  I've been following the forum here and talking to other users and the consensus seems to be that things are going well now...haven't seen as many complaints lately vs a few months ago.  Just want some opinions on if I should finally jump in.  I'm finally down to under 10 projects for clients rather than juggling 15-20 at a time...so it is a good time to do it.

So far I have only found a few bugs. One of the high points is the wall definition procedure. Much better. One of the low points is the railing/post procedures. Much worse (and confusing).

Martin...what's up with railings?  Stairs have been a struggle since I started with softplan since I started in V14.

Railings actually work much better in V2022.

Especially on stairs.

 

I think the complaint relates to the interface.

The posts are separate from the railing and it is not as intuitive to use.

I also find the format for defining railings to be more confusing.

 

Once you get over the interface hump it is all good !

Absolutely no reason to stay behind Sam. Go for the upgrade !!!

I think another way to ask the question is there anyone that is using 2022 that would go back to 2020.  I for one would not even consider it.

Martin...what's up with railings?  Stairs have been a struggle since I started with softplan since I started in V14.  

They have separated the posts from the rails as far as editing goes (although mid posts are still embedded in the rail definition) and requires separate rail definitions for each configuration (lower rail/no lower rail, etc.) which is a nuisance .

Mixed feelings on the railing post thing.  To go from NO newel post to a newel post you almost have to pick on the spot where the newel post will be going then you risk the chance of picking lines, walls or anything else in the way.
