I am going to upgrade my desktop computer this year.

In the process of now looking

i am using soft plan 2022 and am hoping a few can share some of thoughts and ideas on what i should include in my search

 1)what series nvidia video card 

 2) processor?

 3) RAM

anything else i should be considering.

I just order this from Newegg ( I think they have a US chain): for i7-11700F with GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4 3000MHz, 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD with a pair of BENQ EL2870U 4k monitors 28" monitors

I definitely subscribe to the "buy the best you can afford" philosophy for computers, but depending on your budget, those specs are way higher than you actually need!

Sounds like a real work horse.   i dont have enough life left in me too learn to use all those programs and i cant think fast enough to keep up with tht speed. 

i will try and get the same nvidia card.

curious if you actually need all the TB memory?

The 3 TB hard drive might come in handy if you save your twin motion videos in your project folder.

I have the same philosophy as Keith when it comes to buying tools for the business. I figure I might get a year or two more out of high end computer… maybe.

I may be an exception but I have had not problems running SoftPlan 2020 and now 2022 on a Mac Mini under Parallels.  I bought a new maxed out Alienware 4 years ago under the assumption that the integrated parts, built in video, flash memory and all the stuff that made a gaming computer fast would make SoftPlan run great too and it did.  But two years old it fried as most of them did because the chips were overclocked stock by Dell.  Too much to repair.  Tried the Mac mini after reading about it and it was much faster, always use 2 monitors sometimes three.  I love it.  I don't think its sanctioned by SoftPlan but it's been fine.  Use it every day.
