How do you keep Softlist from including materials that are in the original structure when adding an addition?  Thanks!

Have you tried loading and using the “remodeler’s” wall types?

If I remember right when I did try it, I could not separate the roof areas and the associated framing. Maybe I need to work with that a bit more? I was wondering if there was a way to use layers to do it but I'll give it a go with the remodeling walls, etc.  Thanks!

edit the stuff and select softlist and uncheck,  somethings like maybe soffit you will need to just not draw them.  Block repeat edit helps make that faster.

Most things can be turned off this way like each window, etc.

Combine the two approaches and that will do it!  Thanks much!

You can put the addition on it's own "Building Option" and then turn the other(s) off when you run Softlist report.

I do as Jim has suggested. I create a Building Option called "Existing" and place anything that already exists on that option. Turning that option off does 2 things. (1)it stops SoftList from reporting it and (2) it turns off the existing items in the 3d view so you have a visual confirmation of what is going to be reported.

I think this might be the easier way to go and I really like being able to "see" what Softlist is using for its data.  Thanks!  How about a 4th option.......:)
