The default degree orientation seems to be starting from the right side of the screen and proceeding in a CCW direction so that 90 is on top, 180 to the left and 270 at the bottom. Is there a way to change this so that 0 degrees is at the top of the screen? Better yet, at top and proceeding in a CW direction (like a compass) It would certainly be more intuitive for transferring data points to and from a total station survey. Note that this is not a "direction of North" question, I often find it easier to do "quick & dirty" site layout drawings using lines /shapes v.s. site lines.

Todd, I agree with you.  I was about to write about that.  I have tried to change it in Softplan but no luck.  All maps I have ever seen have North at 0.00 or 360 degrees.  Maps have N at the top. Weather radar, N at the top.  There are so many examples of this.   ATC: (Air Traffic Control) 83VI approach the airport from the South on a heading of 090. 83VI: You want what?  ATC: I know, but it seems the airport was designed by someone using software called SouthPlan,  We have been trying to change it but no luck.  Continue North on heading 090. Good luck and let me know when the airport is in sight.

I also agree about using the site plan.  Usually, I just draw a site plan rather than jump through the hoops of the site plan.

I believe if you go to "System options" and North options you can change that by unchecking Indicate angle quadrants, then you have to change it in "Project options"

I think a lot of CAD system use the same 0° is to the right. I seem to remember AutoCAD does too. Although I can't remember CW or CCW ... It's been a long time since I used AutoCAD. However, it's not just a Softpplan thing!
