Has anyone made a hidden door similar to the attached image?

Any thoughts as to how to create a special symbol for it, if it has not been done before?

I don't have a good solution for 3d and having it open like that but I draw them in plan view all the time with a blank square opening for the hole in the wall and tall cabinet with or without doors to show the shelving

Thanks, Sam.  I hadn't thought about that.  Good solution!

Try 3D Warehouse.  This one is not exactly the same but maybe you can modify it for find something closer:  https://3dwarehouse....oor-Bookshelf

You can also save any 3D shelving unit and assign it to an opening. You'd probably want it to be exact size for each opening size. Just as if you created a door and want to save it to a new opening.

Thanks, Fred - I did eventually find this one too by changing the words I used to search.  I really appreciate you posting this too though.

I have a customer that wants a Hidden bookcase door, after searching the internet I found that Murphy makes one.

Modify a cabinet to the dimensions of the Murphy door.  Offset elevation of cabinet to the desired height.  Stile and rails can be modified to give you the "look".  Remove the front toe kick.  Rotate the "cabinet" to the desired angle/mimic a door.

Create cased opening for door. m I am going to see if this can be worked out.  I will post my work.

First I would like to point out that the 2nd post from Sam Morgan deserves all the credit.  I did not read his entire post, sorry Sam.

But I followed his instructions with some add ons.

It was not difficult to do - however - I can relate to drawing for a customer and doing things like this can be little time consuming/pain in the you know....

Again - All credit goes to Sam Morgan.

Bob.
