In your 1rst column, did you try to adjust (increase) the size of the texture (Distance>Horizontal & Vertical)

Yes none of them have any effect on the texture at all as I stated before. Same with rotate, and scale, no effect.

It is super nice that we can use SketchUp along with SP. It'd be even better if the programs worked better together though. Your column on the right looks good.

I agree, it would be nice to not have to go through the extra step of exporting it to another format.

OK...will someone simply explain how to get imports into Softplan from 3D Warehouse NOT to have the little 2x2 squares (that can't be changed) and look like the column on the right in Brent's example?  Make it simple.....please.  Thanks

First you would download the model from 3D ware house into SketchUp

Then the way I made it work is in SketchUp go to File-Export-3D Model

In their you save the model as a .dae file to your Soft Plan 3D Symbols folder

Then do as normal in Soft Plan only you link the symbol to the .dae 3d file instead of the .skp ScetchUp file

I hadn't noticed it before, as I think most of my models are using solid colours as textures, however, doing a test with some of my own Sketchup drawings, I see them exhibiting the same issues. Thanks for the heads up with the DAE files

Brent or Keith,

Does the DAE export work with curved faces and or photomapped textures from sketchup?

I am finding that in the direct sketchup import wizard, models with photomapped or adjusted textures don't even carry their assigned textures over to import - they show up in the download file window, but once downloaded into the wizard.

Tried the DAE approach, must be doing something wrong, or it doesn't work for the models I am importing...

This is what it is supposed to look like:

Untitled-TrueColor-01.jpg

This is what I get in the symbol dialog box:

Untitled-TrueColor-02.jpg

All adjustment options in the dialog box don't actually change the properties at all - size, rotation, transparent, auto orient, etc.  they have no effect.

Imported directly using the wizard, 75% of the models I want to use have the 2x2 square problem or the textures don't transfer at all, and they can't be adjusted.  Now with the DAE import, I don't have 2x2 but I still can't adjust them or get them to show correctly.

How do I get textures to work on these models?

Ok so we are on 2020 now and still have the exact same issue. Usually SP is very good about fixing things but what is going on here that this is not getting taken seriously? It is at least a 4 year old problem.

2023 And still having this problem, using 2021 exported sketchup model brought into SP 2024 and still no joy adjusting the texture size, scale, orientation...

Well that is disappointing! I haven't installed 2023 yet, too busy.

How to set up textures in Sketchup models for use in SoftPlan. Requires that you have Sketchup. This tutorial is several years old but still works with the paid version of Sketchup and all versions of SoftPlan. I occasionally have to texture models I have made in Sketchup for use in SoftPlan and if you follow these procedures you can get great results. I haven't tried Sketchup Free but it should work.
