Thanks for the help!  The Options:MaterialTexture settings and the Presentation Views  worked perfectly.

Now I'm going to try the Building Option approach.

You can also use the "Presentation Views" in the Navigation Pane to view each floor in the model.

Go to the MATERIAL TEXTURE EDITOR, and under ROOF and CEILING (and anything else that may be in the way) uncheck the display boxes - TIP if you click on the box that says display, you can highlight and uncheck all the boxes at on go - Reverse procedure to turn them back on.

You can also uncheck framing in the EXTRACTION OPTIONS if that something you have extracted as standard.

You can obviously change the display status of ANYTHING that you wish the same way.

Did you know you can click on the blue circle in the centre of the 3D VIEW window to get a true BIRDS EYE? You probably did, but I just thought I'd mention it for anyone who didn't!

All my drawings have a building option called "UPPER FLOOR ROOF", "MAIN FLOOR ROOF and "CEILINGS" then assign each of these options to the appropriate objects. Then I can turn them off and on as required.

In SP 2018,  I have a floor plan and a roof designed.

I want to see the main floor as a birds eye view in the 3D model but now the roof is blocking my view.

I can navigate inside the 3D model, I need to see the 3d view of the floor plan from outside

How can I make the roof /trusses/ceilings/insulation invisible without deleting them?

I found Options-Visible items but turning off the roof in Roof mode or Drawing mode only affects visibility in the 2D drawings.

How do I make the roof invisible so I can see inside the house from above in the 3D view ?

Thanks!
