Thanks Keith, that was helpful!

I would love it if there was a command that could align the sides of individual vertically stacked windows in a 3d view. Getting the height of the window is pretty straightforward using the "Offset" in the Edit dialog box, but the side to side is rather cumbersome. SoftPlan 2020?!!

.. here's one method

Personally I draw them all in a line on plan (sometimes you need to draw them really narrow) and then edit the offsets to suit, then I edit the dimensions between them to 0" then edit the width if they were altered. The Unit Opening command takes the 3 windows and makes them a single one, and asks you to give them a product code.

As with everything Softplan has more than one way to achieve this, once you're comfortable with it, you can decide the best way yourself. Sometimes it's easier to relocate the windows inside the 3D model.

Basically the stacking is achieved via the offsets - You may have to experiment, and do what works best for you.

What does the window you are trying to show look like?

I am still very confused as to how to achieve this. Where do you draw the additional windows? If I draw a wall with windows and want to stack three windows high....I draw the original window, then use the "Unit opening" command? (I am trying this to no avail) How did you draw three windows stacked on each other? ?

If they are stacked with gaps and are not one single window, then edit the windows in the 3D and change the upper ones to hidden (on the display tab check hidden) - They will still display in the 3D, but won't clutter up the plan.

As an alternative to Douglas' suggestion above, If it's a single window you can add two transoms (add transom and add transom) sized to suit. I find the downside of the Unit opening is that it adds the new opening to the system windows ... I would prefer that it kept them at a drawing level.

Use the Edit Unit Openings command, ..

Stack your window windows individually as you want, .. select the aforementioned command and the window units, .. you've created one unit that includes all you stacked

New some guidance on how to add multiple vertical windows on a cabin end wall.   I can add them and adjust the vertical placement, but essentially have three levels of windows stacked on top.   I can't physically put them on the plan view without mass confusion and overlap.   My gable end if provided by the wall as the front part of the cabin in all open, with a loft at the back of the cabin.

Any ideas or strategies would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Glen
