Add a shed roof to each eave side of your gable(you need to change the peak of the shed roof to a "Vertical Intersection"). Now you have a gable roof where each side of the gable is independent. Simply edit the side you want to have the Hip return and you're all set. It is a little tricky getting the "Lollipops / suction cups" in roof mode to do what you want, so you'll have to play with them a little but does work.
